Hey Hanson, Can You MMMNot?

Hanson, Hanson and Hanson, can you stop?

It’s imperative that you know Hanson is celebrating the 20th
anniversary of their seminal hit “MMMBop,” and so they’ve been
making the most of it. Most recently, the boys-turned-men
compared Justin Bieber’s music to chlamydia during an interview. In a
subsequent interview on
Australia’s Kyle and Jackie O Show, Hanson was forced to
correct their Bieber statement. But their new statement makes
even less sense. “We were
making koala jokes, and of course there’s a chlamydia koala
joke,” said Taylor. (Of course there is.) “And it was just a
bad punchline.” Zac added, “I was disappointed that nobody
noticed the pun of ‘venEAReal disease.” Get it?

Besides trashing Bieber, who may be a bit of a dick but makes
beautiful music, Hanson also continued to rave about the
intricacies of “MMMBop,” the most important song of our time.
Previously, Hanson went into unnecessary depth about how
artists get the syncopation of “MMMBop” wrong in covers. The
other thing people get wrong are the lyrics.

“Too many people put a ‘wop’ in there,” Zac explained to the
radio hosts. (I’m pretty sure I hear a “wop,” but okay.) “What
happens is people go to sing that song and they start making it
up as if it’s nonsense. But it’s actually a repetitive part, it
came from doo-wop songs. So it’s a background part.” Further,
“‘MMMBop’ represents a frame of time. ‘In an MMMBop they’re
gone,’ it says in the lyrics of the song. The whole song’s
about the fact that almost everything in your life will come
and go very quickly. You’ve got to figure out what matters and
grab onto those things.”

“In an MMMBop they’re gone.”

“In an MMMBop they’re gone.”

“In an MMMBop they’re gone.”

Wish the same could be said of Hanson. Suffice to say, we know
everything there is to know about “MMMBop” and can move on with
our lives.
